Cumberland River Behavioral Health
Caring for the mental health needs of children
ASL Interpreter services are arranged and available for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals. Specific language interpreting accommodations are reviewed and assessed on an individual basis.
Early Intervention / First Steps / Point of Entry
First Steps is a statewide early intervention program that provides services to children from birth to age three who have a developmental delay or medical condition known to cause a delay. The First Steps program helps to support learning and development by bringing together resources from education, health and social services to meet the special needs of children and their families. Early Childhood Mental Health Program
The Early Childhood Mental Health program offers education, consultation, counseling, coaching, training and in-person observations for children (birth to age five) with developmental, social, emotional, behavioral, trauma and/or substance related issues. ECMH staff collaborate with parents, families, caregivers, teachers and healthcare providers to fully assess a child’s treatment needs. Child & Adolescent Clinic (CAPERS)
The CAPERS Child and Adolescent Clinic provides primary, consultative and progressive psychiatric treatment for children birth to age seventeen with behavioral health needs. Children and families, in a relaxed environment, are treated by a team of behavioral health professionals who are client centered and family focused. Services provided at the clinic include, but are not limited to: individual and family counseling, psychiatric evaluation, medication management, psychological testing and autism services. Outpatient Services (Child & Adolescent)
Outpatient services for children and adolescents are available in all Outpatient Offices. Services include, but are not limited to: Psychiatric and/or Psychological Evaluation/Testing; Individual, Group, Family and/or Collateral Therapy, Medication Assessment/Management, Crisis Intervention and Case Management/Service Coordination. Normal hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., however, afterhours appointments are available. Appointments may be scheduled by calling the local office, however, in crisis situations, individuals are encouraged to walk-in to any of our locations.
School Based Services
Child/Family Interventionists, also known as CFIs, provide individual, group, and/or family services to children and adolescents with behavioral health and/or substance use issues on site at participating schools. Kentucky IMPACT
The KY IMPACT program offers two tiers of services, Targeted Case Management and High Fidelity Wraparound to children and adolescents with severe emotional disabilities. Targeted Case Managers and High Fidelity Wraparound Facilitators work diligently to increase a child’s opportunity for success by empowering the family and coordinating needed resources. Children’s Crisis Stabilization Unit (CCSU) / Turning Point
The Children’s Crisis Stabilization Unit (CCSU) also known as Turning Point provides services to children two to seventeen years of age, who are in crisis and/or are at high risk for hospitalization and/or removal from their home during a crisis situation. Behavioral health, substance use and crisis intervention services are provided. Children admitted to the CCSU remain at the unit until stabilized, usually three-seven days. During this time, all pertinent community resources are merged to support the child and their family. The CCSU is open twenty four hours per day, seven days per week. Community Collaboration for Children (CCC)
The Community Collaboration for Children (CCC) program is a voluntary prevention program that provides in-home services to families. The program is designed to assist in the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Services provided through the CCC program last approximately 10-12 weeks and involve frequent home visits. Services include parenting education issue(s) that placed the family “at risk” and assist them in addressing problems before a crisis situation develops. Services such as parenting education/guidance appropriate discipline techniques, budgeting and other education/ instruction needed by the family are also offered. Creating Opportunities for Parents Everywhere (COPE)
COPE, in collaboration with the Kentucky Partnership for Families and Children (KPFC), is a supportive network of parents seeking and sharing resources, skills and strategies. Through lived experience, individuals affiliated with COPE are dedicated to involving and empowering others to come together and create opportunities for families in the Cumberland Valley region. Reclaiming Futures in the Cumberlands
Reclaiming Futures of the Cumberlands is based on a national initiative for change and improvement in substance use interventions for youth involved in the juvenile justice system. The Reclaiming Futures program provides skill enhancement to community partners to increase access to quality coordinated interventions and yield positive outcomes for youth and their families. This program is currently utilized in the Whitley County Juvenile Justice System and serves as a model for other court systems throughout the state. For more information, please call (606) 526-9459.
